Superintendent – Site Development & Earthworks

Location: Northern Virginia
Salary: Up to $175,000 (commensurate with experience) + bonus/benefits

About the Role

We are seeking an experienced Superintendent to oversee site development and earthwork operations on projects throughout Northern Virginia. This role is responsible for day-to-day field execution, safety, scheduling, and coordination of crews and subcontractors. The ideal candidate has deep hands-on experience in mass grading, underground utilities, and site infrastructure.

Key Responsibilities

Lead daily field operations for site development and earthwork projects
Plan and execute mass grading, utilities, erosion & sediment control, and storm drainage activities
Coordinate crews, equipment, materials, and subcontractors to meet project schedules
Enforce site safety standards and lead toolbox talks and safety meetings
Ensure work is performed in accordance with plans, specifications, and quality standards
Coordinate with project managers, engineers, inspectors, and owners
Track production, quantities, and field progress
Identify and resolve field issues, conflicts, and constructability challenges
Maintain site documentation, daily reports, and as-builts

Qualifications

5+ years of experience as a Superintendent in site development and earthworks
Strong background in mass grading, underground utilities, and site infrastructure
Experience working in the Northern Virginia / Mid-Atlantic market preferred
Solid understanding of earthwork means, methods, and sequencing
Ability to manage multiple crews and subcontractors effectively
Strong leadership, communication, and problem-solving skills
Familiarity with construction technology and field reporting tools (e.g., Procore, HCSS, GPS machine control)
