We are working with a rapidly expanding organisation that is delivering major data centre and critical infrastructure projects across the United States.
Due to continued growth, they are looking to appoint a QC Site Manager for a large-scale data centre project in Indiana. This is a senior site-based position for someone who can take ownership of quality across the project and ensure work is completed correctly, documented properly and ready for testing, commissioning and handover.
You will lead the site quality function and work alongside the client, general contractor, subcontractors, engineers, vendors and commissioning teams. The role will cover the full project lifecycle, from the arrival and installation of equipment through to energisation, commissioning and final closeout.
The company has grown by eight times over the past two years and has a strong pipeline of future projects. They are also committed to developing people internally, making this a strong opportunity for someone looking for long-term progression within the critical infrastructure sector.
You will be responsible for managing the day-to-day quality function on site, including:
Leading the QC team and coordinating quality activities across multiple trades.
Setting inspection requirements and ensuring checks are completed at the correct stages of construction.
Reviewing drawings, specifications, submittals, RFIs, equipment information and testing documentation.
Monitoring the quality of electrical, mechanical, HVAC, controls, fire protection, plumbing and other data centre installations.
Checking that materials and equipment are delivered, stored and installed correctly.
Managing inspections before energisation, during testing and ahead of commissioning.
Identifying defective, incomplete or non-compliant work and ensuring it is rectified.
Tracking quality issues, nonconformances, corrective actions and punch-list items through to closure.
Reviewing testing and installation records to confirm that systems are ready to progress.
Supporting pre-functional testing, energisation, commissioning and final handover.
Maintaining accurate quality records, inspection reports, test results and turnover documentation.
Running quality meetings and keeping project stakeholders updated on progress, risks and outstanding actions.
Working with site teams and subcontractors to promote consistent standards of workmanship and documentation.
Ensuring quality activities are carried out in line with project procedures, safety requirements and relevant US construction standards.
You will need a strong background in construction quality, electrical installation, commissioning or field engineering, ideally gained within data centres or other critical infrastructure environments.
Suitable candidates are likely to have:
At least eight years of experience in construction quality control, QA/QC, commissioning, field engineering or a similar discipline.
Experience working on data centres, mission-critical facilities, industrial projects, utility infrastructure or large commercial developments.
A strong understanding of electrical construction and complex building services installations.
Experience taking projects from installation through testing, commissioning and handover.
Previous experience managing QC managers, engineers, inspectors or multi-disciplinary site teams.
Good knowledge of systems such as generators, UPS units, transformers, switchgear, distribution equipment, cabling, cooling systems, controls and fire protection.
Experience managing inspections, punch lists, nonconformances and corrective actions.
The ability to understand drawings, specifications, submittals, RFIs, equipment schedules and test records.
Experience working with digital quality, document-control or commissioning platforms.
Strong communication skills and the confidence to work with clients, contractors, subcontractors, vendors and commissioning agents.
Knowledge of standards such as OSHA, NEC, NFPA, NETA, IEEE and ANSI.
A valid driver’s licence and the flexibility to work overtime or occasional weekends when required.
Quality-related qualifications such as ASQ, CQM, CQA, ICC, NICET or NETA would be advantageous, but relevant experience will also be considered.
