InfraRec is seeking an experienced Financial Controller for a client in the power and energy infrastructure sector based in Rome, NY. This role is responsible for overseeing accounting operations, financial reporting, and internal controls for the organization. The ideal candidate has a strong background in cost accounting, compliance, and financial management within an industrial, construction, or infrastructure environment.
Responsibilities
Manage all accounting operations, including accounts payable, accounts receivable, payroll, and general ledger
Prepare monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements in accordance with GAAP
Develop and maintain internal controls to safeguard company assets and ensure accurate financial reporting
Lead the annual budgeting process and provide ongoing forecasting and variance analysis
Coordinate with external auditors and manage the annual audit process
Oversee cost accounting for projects, contracts, and job costing
Ensure compliance with tax filings, regulatory requirements, and company policies
Supervise and mentor accounting staff
Provide financial analysis and reporting to support executive decision-making
Manage cash flow, banking relationships, and treasury functions
Qualifications
Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field required; CPA preferred
7+ years of progressive accounting or finance experience, including at least 3 years in a controller or senior management role
Experience in construction, energy, power, or infrastructure industries strongly preferred
Strong knowledge of GAAP and financial reporting standards
Experience with job costing and percentage-of-completion accounting a plus
Proficiency in accounting software and ERP systems
Strong Excel and financial modeling skills
Excellent leadership, communication, and organizational skills
Ability to work on-site in Rome, NY
Day-to-Day
Reviewing financial reports and reconciliations prepared by accounting staff
Monitoring project costs and comparing actuals to budget
Meeting with department heads to discuss financial performance
Reviewing and approving invoices, payments, and journal entries
Working with the executive team on financial planning and strategy
Addressing accounting or compliance issues as they arise
Managing month-end and year-end close processes
Coordinating with external partners such as banks, auditors, and tax advisors
