InfraRec Is Now a Certified B Corporation: What It Means for Our Clients

InfraRec has achieved Certified B Corporation status. It's a milestone we're proud of, but more importantly, it's one that changes what our clients and candidates can expect from working with us, because it's independently verified rather than self-reported.

Recruitment is a trust business. Clients hand us their hiring strategy and employer brand. Candidates hand us their careers. In an industry that isn't short on agencies claiming to do things "the right way," B Corp certification is one of the few ways to prove it rather than just say it.

What B Corp Certification Actually Is

B Corp Certification is awarded by B Lab, an independent nonprofit that has spent two decades building a standard for what a genuinely responsible business looks like. It isn't a marketing badge a company buys or a self-assessment a company publishes on its own website. It's a verified certification, and as of B Lab's most recent figures, more than 10,800 companies across 102 countries and 163 industries hold it, together employing over a million people.

To qualify, a company has to complete the B Impact Assessment, a rigorous evaluation covering five areas: governance, workers, community, environment, and customers. Governance looks at how a company is structured, how transparent it is, and whether it's legally accountable to more than just shareholder returns. Workers covers pay, benefits, and career development. Community covers diversity, inclusion, and how a company treats its supply chain. Environment measures a company's operational footprint. Customers looks at whether the product or service itself creates a genuine public benefit.

A company needs a minimum score of 80 out of 200 points to pass, verified by B Lab rather than self-reported. In 2025, B Lab rolled out its most significant overhaul of these standards since the certification launched, raising the bar further for what qualifies. InfraRec earned certification under this newer, stricter framework.

Certification also isn't permanent. It has to be renewed every three years, with the assessment run again in full. That recertification cycle is what separates B Corp from most sustainability claims a company can put on a homepage and never revisit.

Why This Matters More in Recruitment Than Most Industries

Recruitment agencies sell judgment and relationships, not a physical product. There's no factory to inspect and no warranty to check. Clients are largely trusting an agency's word on how candidates are sourced, how fairly they're represented, and how the agency itself is run internally.

That's exactly the gap B Corp certification closes. A handful of other recruitment firms, including Career Moves Group, ADLIB, Futureheads, and Enable Recruitment, have gone through the same process for the same reason: it gives clients a third-party reference point instead of a self-written mission statement. InfraRec joining that group means the energy and infrastructure recruitment sector now has a certified option specifically built around transmission and distribution, substation, civil, renewables, and solar hiring.

What Changes for Clients (and What Doesn't)

Nothing about your day-to-day relationship with your InfraRec consultant changes. The certification doesn't introduce new processes or slow anything down. What it does is confirm, independently, the standards we were already holding ourselves to across how we manage our teams, treat candidates, and run the business behind the scenes.

Practically, that gives clients a few things to point to:

Accountability beyond a single client relationship. A consultant might build a great personal reputation, but B Corp certification is evaluated at the company level, so those standards apply consistently across every desk, every sector, and every hire, not just the accounts a client happens to work with directly.

A governance structure that has to account for more than placement fees. The governance portion of the B Impact Assessment specifically checks whether a company's decision-making formally considers workers, candidates, and community impact, not only financial return. For a business built on placing people into infrastructure projects that shape communities for decades, that distinction is not cosmetic.

A three-year audit trail, not a one-time claim. Because recertification is mandatory, InfraRec has to keep meeting the bar B Lab sets, and that bar has been getting harder to clear, not easier, as B Lab tightens its standards over time.

The Bigger Picture: Why B Corp Growth Is Accelerating

B Corp certification isn't a niche credential anymore. The number of certified companies has grown by more than 30% year over year in recent years, climbing from just over 8,000 in 2023 to more than 10,800 globally today. That growth is happening at the same time B Lab has made the standards themselves considerably harder to meet, which tells you the trend isn't companies chasing an easy badge. It's a genuine shift in how businesses, especially those built on trust and long-term relationships like recruitment, are choosing to prove their standards rather than assert them.

For a firm working across clean energy and infrastructure recruitment, where the projects we help staff are themselves aimed at building a more sustainable grid, that alignment matters. It would be an odd position to help build the infrastructure for a cleaner energy future while running the business behind it without the same scrutiny.
