Average pay for EV charging technicians in the US now sits around $54,600 a year, with a typical range of $40,500 to $60,500 depending on experience, location, and employer — figures that are rising as demand for EV-specific certification outpaces the number of technicians who hold it.
Fleet electrification programs add another layer of complexity. Corporate and municipal fleets converting to EVs typically need depot-based charging infrastructure sized for dozens or hundreds of vehicles, which requires the same scarce electrical labor but on a compressed timeline tied to vehicle delivery schedules. A depot charging buildout that's late doesn't just delay a construction milestone — it can leave delivered vehicles sitting idle without anywhere to charge, turning a labor shortage into a direct fleet operations problem.
